You may be wondering what the term “dark night of the soul” refers to or you may be seeking support on what the hell to do when this happens to you. In this episode of Heartscaping, I will give you my perspective and some tips on how to navigate this time with as much ease and grace as possible.

It is often described as a journey towards spiritual enlightenment, where the individual sheds their old beliefs and attitudes, leading to a deeper connection with the divine. The term Dark Night of the Soul refers to a period of profound inner transformation. We are becoming a whole new version of ourselves but we are still in the void, between who we once were and who we are becoming, this is a very uncomfortable place to be. It can feel like a deep depression or even a nervous breakdown, but it is a transition, please know that if you are experiencing this, it is temporary and you will get through this. This stage is like transitioning from a caterpillar into a butterfly. If you know how that process goes the caterpillar actually completely disintegrates and becomes all mushy before re-forming into a whole new being. Imagine how that must feel- well when you move through your own version of that, you deserve to give yourself some slack. It’s big. So I guess my top tip would be to as much as possible allow everything to fall away, allow everything that you believed yourself to be to drop away. Because truly the essence of who you are is way beyond all of those labels all those experiences all of those adjectives that you use to qualify yourself. You are so much more than that and you are so much deeper than that and you are so much more powerful than you could have possibly given yourself. Keep practicing whatever you do, and don’t give up your spiritual practice, even if it seems pointless or scary. If you stop now, you can get stuck in an endless Dark Night and your life will become unlivable. Have Faith and remember that you are not in control of this process. Trust in the process, in your True Self, God, or however you want to characterize it. Allow yourself to be guided. Embrace the darkness. It may seem crazy to say yes to darkness and loss, but it’s a symptom of your old ego illusions. Learn to see in the dark. Dispel the darkness by bringing more consciousness to it. If you fight it or push it away, it will only become stronger. Beware expectations if you expect the Dark Night to be hard or scary, then it will be. Be careful of the stories you tell yourself about what is going on. They are all ego narratives and therefore illusory. Keep yourself grounded by exercising regularly. Go for walks, do yoga, do weight training anything that keeps you moving and focused on the body so you don’t get lost in your head. I hope you enjoyed this video.
